You are never far from a swimming pool but La Manga Club also has its own beach in a picturesque cove surrounded by spectacular cliffs. Just a couple of miles away in one direction is the Calblanque National Park with around 4 kilometres of unspoiled sandy beach and in the other, the warm inland sea, the Mar Menor.
The resort has over 20 bars and restaurants as well as supermarkets, pharmacies, banks and other shops and although everything you need is on hand, there is also much to see and do in the surrounding area.
La Manga Club is just 20 kilometres from Cartagena, an ancient port founded by the Carthaginians in 221 BC which still has its Roman amphitheater, as well as other historical sites and museums. Inland from Cartagena the historical town of Lorca can be reached which as well as being known for its Roman villas, palaces and works of art is dominated by its hilltop castle. The provincial capital Murcia is only around an hour away. A university town founded by the Moors in 825 BC, it has a famous cathedral and several churches that are worth visiting. Among its museums are the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of La Huerta. The city also offers good shopping as well as pleasant squares in which to relax and enjoy a drink or tapas at one of the many cafés. Other diverse events and activities in the region range from the world famous Jazz Festival at San Javier in early summer to the opportunity to view rare species of birds in the wetlands of El Fondo, a large, internationally renowned wetland Bird Reserve near Elche.
Murcia airport is just 25 minutes away and is served by a number of the ‘low cost’ airlines, whilst Alicante airport is just under an hour away. This means that La Manga Club is easily accessible from all over the UK, Eire and the rest of Europe for both weekend breaks and longer stays.
